Osteva Field Notes
01 — Editorial Standards

Standards in Practice.

London, 2026 — A record of how Osteva Field Notes selects, reviews, and publishes observations on food choices, satiety patterns, and appetite rhythm.

02 — Our Approach

How Field Notes Are Made

Osteva Field Notes operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

Content published on Osteva Field Notes is editorial in nature and reflects the writers' observations on everyday food choices, satiety patterns, and appetite rhythm. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

Each piece begins with a question drawn from ordinary eating experience — a curiosity about why certain mornings feel steadier than others, or why a particular afternoon seems to invite more snacking than the one before. The field notes attempt to sit with that question for long enough to observe it properly, before drawing on published nutritional research for context.

Publication Note

Osteva Field Notes is an independent editorial publication exploring everyday food choices, satiety patterns, and appetite rhythm. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

03 — Process

From Observation to Publication

01

Observation

A topic emerges from direct observation of eating patterns, reader correspondence, or gaps noted in existing food writing. The writer records initial observations without reaching for sources.

02

Source Review

Content published by Osteva Field Notes is selected based on published nutritional research and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. Peer-reviewed dietary studies and independent nutrition literature are prioritised.

03

Second Edit

Every field note is read by a second editor prior to publication. The second editor checks for accuracy of cited material, internal consistency, and adherence to the publication's editorial register.

04

Publication & Record

Once approved, the piece is published with a clear date and author attribution. Any subsequent corrections are noted publicly within the article, with a dated correction notice.

Accepted Sources
  • Peer-reviewed nutritional journals
  • Published dietary pattern studies
  • Independent nutrition literature
  • Registered nutritionist commentary
  • Long-term population eating studies
Not Accepted
  • Unattributed online claims
  • Commercial product endorsements
  • Promotional white papers
  • Single anecdote as primary evidence
04 — Source Verification

What Counts as Evidence

The editorial approach at Osteva Field Notes distinguishes between what is observed and what is documented. Observation drives the initial framing of a piece; published nutritional research provides the contextual anchor.

Writers are asked to identify the primary source for any claim that goes beyond general food knowledge. Where a study is referenced, the publication name, approximate date, and nature of the finding are noted. The second editor verifies that the claim as written accurately reflects what the source states.

This process does not position Osteva Field Notes as a research institution. Rather, it ensures that the field notes occupy a clear position: editorial observation informed by, but not claiming equivalence with, specialist nutritional literature.

We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any new habit or routine to your daily life, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements.

05 — Accuracy

Corrections Policy

Osteva Field Notes takes the accuracy of its published observations seriously. When a reader or writer identifies a factual error, the editorial desk investigates the claim against the original source material.

If an error is confirmed, the correction is applied to the published piece and noted at the foot of the article with a date. The correction notice reads plainly, without diminishing the nature of the original error.

Readers who believe an error has been made are encouraged to contact the editorial desk at [email protected] with a clear description of the claim in question and a reference to the source they believe more accurately reflects the evidence.

Where a piece is found to be substantially in error in its central argument, the publication may choose to retract and republish with a full explanatory note. This is rare and is reserved for instances where the error is material to the reader's understanding of the topic.

Minor stylistic amendments — changes to phrasing that do not alter the meaning or accuracy of a piece — are not noted as corrections. Only factual changes are recorded in the public correction notice.

The editorial desk aims to respond to correction enquiries within five working days and to publish any confirmed amendment within ten working days of the original correspondence.

06 — Disclosure

Commercial Independence

Osteva Field Notes does not accept payment for the inclusion or positive framing of any product, brand, or food category in its editorial content. Writers are required to disclose any commercial relationships — including brand partnerships, sponsored work, or consultancy — that could reasonably influence their selection or framing of subject matter.

Where a writer has a relationship with a brand whose products or food categories are discussed in a piece, this is noted at the foot of the article. The editorial desk may choose to assign such a topic to a different writer where the relationship appears to present a meaningful conflict.

The publication does not carry advertising in its editorial body. Any future commercial arrangements — such as sponsorship of a section or an event — would be disclosed clearly and kept editorially separate from published field notes.
